Above the Iza valley's last bend before the Ukrainian border, Poème occupies a timber-frame guesthouse on Strada Făget in Săpânța, the Maramureș village known for its painted Merry Cemetery 400 metres down the road.

Rooms use local oak joinery and hand-woven Maramureș textiles; the garden faces the forested ridge rather than the street. Breakfast draws on farm produce sourced within the village, served on the covered terrace through warmer months.

The Merry Cemetery's carved headstones — each depicting the deceased's life story in verse — are the sole reason most visitors reach this far north. Poème sits close enough to walk over after the tour coaches leave.
