About Alcanada

Alcanada sits on the northeastern coast of Mallorca, roughly 3 km east of Alcúdia's old town walls. The area is defined by two landmarks: the 19th-century Alcanada lighthouse on a small islet just offshore, and Golf Alcanada, an 18-hole links-style course that opened in 2003 and consistently ranks among Spain's top ten. The coastline here is shallow and calm — part of the wider Alcúdia Bay — making it a practical base for families and sailing enthusiasts rather than a party destination.

Visitors arrive mainly between May and October. The crowd skews toward golfers booking stays close to the fairways, and beach-focused travellers who prefer the quieter northern shore over the more developed Playa de Palma. The Albufera Natural Park, one of the largest wetlands in the Balearic Islands, begins just south of the bay and draws birdwatchers tracking migratory species along the reeds.

Palma de Mallorca Airport lies approximately 60 km southwest via the Ma-13 motorway, with a drive of around 50 minutes in normal traffic. The nearest full-service town, Alcúdia, provides supermarkets, a weekly Tuesday and Sunday market in the old quarter, and ferry connections to Menorca from the Port d'Alcúdia terminal.
