About Ibiza
Ibiza: Balearic White Isle Beyond the Club Circuit
Ibiza, the third-largest of Spain's Balearic Islands, sits 150 km southeast of Valencia in the western Mediterranean. The island covers 572 km² and holds a UNESCO World Heritage Site — Dalt Vila, the 16th-century walled old town rising above Eivissa harbour. Most visitors arrive at Ibiza Airport (IBZ), 7 km southwest of the capital, with direct flights from across Europe concentrated between April and October.
The island draws two distinct audiences. Electronic music followers head to the West End strip in Sant Antoni de Portmany and the mega-clubs along the Platja d'en Bossa corridor — Ushuaïa and Hï Ibiza anchor this zone. A separate crowd seeks the quieter northeast: Cala Mastella, Es Canar, and the weekly hippie market at Las Dalias in Sant Carles de Peralta, running since 1985. Both groups overlap at Ses Salines, a natural park beach shared with neighbouring Formentera.
Practical Tips
- Getting around: Rent a car or scooter — buses connect main towns but stop early and miss rural calas.
- Season: Peak season runs June–September; shoulder months (May, October) offer lower hotel rates and manageable crowds.
- Currency: Euro (€); most venues are card-friendly but keep cash for beach bars.
- Day trips: The ferry from Eivissa port to Formentera takes 25–35 minutes.
