Hotels in Ibiza

Ibiza is a Spanish island in the western Mediterranean, part of the Balearic archipelago, roughly 150 km south of Valencia. The island covers about 572 km² and splits into two distinct worlds: Ibiza Town (Eivissa), a UNESCO World Heritage walled city dating to the 16th century, and the rural interior of pine forests and white farmhouses. The northern coast offers quieter coves — Cala Xarraca, Cala Mastella — while the south and west concentrate the clubs, beach bars, and marinas that made the island globally known from the 1980s onward.

Visitors arrive in two broad groups. The first comes for the electronic music scene — clubs such as Pacha (founded 1973) and Amnesia draw international DJs from June through September, with the season peaking in July and August. The second group seeks the older, slower Ibiza: hiking the Camí de Sa Feixes trail, visiting the Phoenician necropolis at Puig des Molins, or eating at agriturismos in Sant Joan de Labritja. Families and couples increasingly use the island as a base for day trips to the smaller island of Formentera, reachable by ferry in about 30 minutes from Ibiza Town harbour.

Ibiza Airport (IBZ) connects to most major European cities year-round, with peak-season flights from London, Berlin, Amsterdam, and Paris. The island's population is around 140,000 permanent residents, rising to several times that in summer. Most hotels and rental properties apply a Balearic tourist tax (ecotasa) charged per person per night, with the rate varying by accommodation category.
