Lucena del Puerto is a small Andalusian municipality in the province of Huelva, set between the Odiel River marshlands and the rolling strawberry fields that define this corner of southwestern Spain. The town sits roughly 20 kilometres southeast of Huelva city, within reach of the Marismas del Odiel — a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and one of Europe's most significant wetland habitats for migratory birds, including spoonbills and greater flamingos.

Most visitors arrive through the broader Huelva province circuit, combining the marshes with nearby Columbian heritage sites — Palos de la Frontera and La Rábida monastery, where Christopher Columbus prepared his 1492 voyage, lie within 15 kilometres. The local economy runs on intensive soft-fruit agriculture; the strawberry and blueberry harvests from February through May draw seasonal workers from across Europe and shape the rhythm of daily life in the municipality.

Lucena del Puerto has a population of around 2,500 and maintains a compact historic centre with a parish church dating to the 16th century. The nearest commercial airport is Huelva's connection via Seville Airport (SVQ), approximately 90 kilometres east.
