About Villadangos del Páramo

Villadangos del Páramo sits on the flat páramo plateau of León province, northwestern Spain — a small municipality of roughly 1,000 residents strung along the N-120 road. The village lies on the Camino Francés, the most-travelled route of the Camino de Santiago, placing it between León city (about 20 km to the east) and Hospital de Órbigo to the west. The parish church of Santiago Apóstol anchors the village centre, its scallop-shell motifs marking centuries of pilgrim traffic.

Visitors here are almost exclusively pilgrims walking or cycling to Santiago de Compostela. The stage from Villadangos to Astorga covers roughly 30 km of open meseta terrain — wide skies, cereal fields, and few shade trees. The village provides a logical overnight stop with a municipal albergue and basic services: a bar, a small shop, and a pharmacy. It is not a destination in itself but a functional waypoint in a longer journey.

The municipal albergue on Calle de la Iglesia operates seasonally, typically April through October, with dormitory beds at low fixed rates set by the local council.
