Fourteen ocean-facing suites crown the upper floors of Hôtel du Palais, the Second Empire villa Napoleon III raised on Biarritz's Grande Plage for Empress Eugénie in 1854. The building anchors Avenue de l'Impératrice directly above the Atlantic breakers.

Rooms retain gilded cornices and original period proportions; the Imperial Suite occupies what were the royal apartments. Two restaurants, a heated seawater pool, and a full spa sit within the palace footprint — uncommon for a beachfront property of this scale. Hyatt's Unbound Collection flag preserves the independent character rather than standardising the interiors.

Biarritz's surf breaks at La Barre and Anglet lie within ten minutes by car; San Sebastián is ninety minutes south across the Spanish border. Bayonne's half-timbered old quarter and its chocolate-makers' district are a twelve-minute drive inland.
