Pont-Saint-Martin sits at the mouth of the Valle del Lys in Italy's Aosta Valley, where the Lys torrent meets the Dora Baltea river. The town's defining landmark is its Roman single-arch bridge, built in the 1st century BC and still standing intact above the gorge. At roughly 350 metres above sea level, Pont-Saint-Martin marks the lowest point of the Aosta Valley and serves as the eastern gateway into the region from Piedmont.
