Cômoros is a parish immediately north of Faro's old city walls, in the Algarve, southern Portugal. The area sits roughly 2 km from Faro's historic Cidade Velha and about 1 km east of Faro International Airport (FAO). Visitors use Cômoros largely as a practical base — accommodation here tends to offer lower rates than the old-town waterfront while remaining within a 15-minute walk of the Ria Formosa Natural Park, an 18,400-hectare lagoon system designated a protected area in 1987.
